Solar Convention 2008

Teresa and I went to the San Diego convention center on October 15 to check out the Solar Power expo.  Join me in checking out all the latest and greatest in solar technology.

This cool little car can travel up to speeds of 25 miles per hour.  It can run on solar power alone for 5 miles, it also has an electric battery which can be charged by plugging it into a wall at home.  Don’t look for this cool little guy on the freeways just yet, it isn’t designed for that kind of range, but do expect to see more of these cars in the future.  Below is a site with more information, including purchasing info.

These solar powered street reflectors work for up to 7 hrs during the evening and then have all day to power back up again before working another night shift.

I think that is Multi-Junction Photovoltaic Cell Board was one of the coolest things I saw at the whole Solar convention.  It about the size of a small note book but it in theory will collect as much power as a 90 feet by 90 feet solar panel.  I found this little gem by at the SDG&E booth, but since it is still in the developmental stages that is all the information they should share with me at that time.  Look for this circut board to revolutionize the solar industry as we know it.
